 * Tainoura
Around the time Holy Priest Nichiren was born, there were a countless number of sea bream off the shore of Tainoura; so many that even the villagers were left astounded. Ever since this phenomenon has been classed as one of the gthree propheciesh, these fish have been believed to be holy and as such have enjoyed continued careful protection. Even today, close up views of shoals can be seen clearly from pleasure boats cruising around Tainoura. It takes about 30 minutes to cruise around this designated natural heritage area.

 * Seicho-ji
Seicho-ji, a sacred ground surrounded by thousand-year old cedars, boasts a rich 1200 year history. Asahi Ga Mori is located on the highest point within the temple grounds. There is proof that Asahi Ga Mori is the first place to witness the sunrise within the Eastern Kanto region. It cannot be a simple coincidence that Holy Priest Nichiren is rumored to have climbed to the top of the mountain and faced the sunrise to achieve his enlightenment. The temple was originally constructed to be part of the Tendai sect, but progressed through the Shingon sect before becoming part of the Nichiren sect in 1949.
Access: 20 min by bus from JR Sotobo Line, Awa Kominato Station.
Parking for 100 cars.

 * Tanjo-jifs Incense and Isokaze
The rocky shore around the Daibenten/Shobenten area extends over 100m during low tide, revealing one of the largest areas in the prefecture for seaweed production. The delightful aromas arising from the beach area and the smell of incense from Nichirenfs historical Tanjo-ji grounds earned a placing in the Ministry for the Environmentfs g100 Best Aromash collection.

 * The Hydrangeas of Mamenbara
Mamenbara, located approximately 4 kilometers from Seicho-ji, features pastures filled with over 200,000 hydrangea flowers. From mid-June until the start of August the area is like a wonderland alive with color.

 * The Yomogi Stationary Waterfall
There is an extremely secluded area 1 kilometer off the main road in the Yomogi District. Another 150 meters further into the mountain trail brings you to a set of waterfalls 10 meters in height and 8 meters wide, aptly named Odaki (the bigger waterfall) and Medaki (the smaller waterfall). The waterfalls are spectacular after a downpour, especially among the fresh green of early summer and the vibrant colors of early winter. A truly amazing area amongst the autumn colors, there is a waterfall observation post and hiking path built for nature walks.

 * Shiraiwa Autumn Colors
The surrounding air becomes gradually cooler as the Yoro Line is followed towards Kimitsu to an area where the road becomes gradually steeper. The autumn leaves of Shiraiwa, Amatsu Kominatofs hidden sanctuary, are best from late November through to December. The coloring of the cliffs with the lively colors of autumn is simply amazing.

 * Amatsu Shinmei Shrine
The 7 Gods including the Amaterasu Okami God, Yokeno Okami God, Yaekotoshirunushi God, Oyamadaijin God are all enshrined together at a shrine called Boshu Ise no Miya. The Marubachisha tree (also called Nanjyamonjya tree) grows throughout the temple ground and is a Prefecturally Designated National Monument.

 * The Beautiful Sunsets of the Shirosaki Coast
A gorgeous white sandy beach stretches for 300m near the mouth of the Shinmei River, towards the center of Amatsu Kominato Town. The swimming beach is popular among the younger generations for its dazzling sunshine and clear blue swirling water and is also said to be among the best beach in Minami Boso.
